چکیده

1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is an inhibitor of ethylene perception. It binds irreversibly to the ethylene receptors and inhibits downstream processes that are controlled by ethylene. In the area of postharvest this means many ripening processes of climacteric fruits, such as softening, color and aroma development, respiration increase and organic acid decrease are inhibited. However, beyond these processes, ethylene also has a role to play in responses to pathogen attack and to wounding, such as occurs during preparation of fresh-cut commodities. 1-MCP has effects on biochemical responses to these occurrences as well. In addition, 1-MCP has been used on non-climacteric commodities to determine what maturation and senescence processes are under the control of ethylene. This review will describe the current knowledge of the effect of 1-MCP on ripening and senescence, on the responses of harvested produce to pathogen infection, and responses of fresh-cut commodities. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Effects of Fruit Maturity and 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) Treatment on α-farnesene Metabolism in Scald Resistant and Susceptible Cultivars of Apple Fruit

Background: It was found that, climatic conditions and fruit ripeness are important factor for the occurrence and intensity of superficial scald. 1-MCP is an inhibitor of ethylene action in plants and inhibits many ripening related processes along with the production of ethylene and volatiles. Objective: Apples are often held for several months at low temperature either in air (RA) or in con...

Physiological and quality responses of Chinese 'Suli' pear (Pyrus bretschneideri Rehd) to 1-MCP vacuum infiltration treatment.

BACKGROUND 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is a potent inhibitor of ethylene action and can maintain the quality and extend the shelf life of fresh produce. But the effectiveness of application of 1-MCP may depend upon its capacity to diffuse into the flesh tissue. However, to our knowledge, no study has been performed on the quality maintenance of pear fruit treated with 1-MCP vacuum infiltration...

Apple is one of the important fruit in Iran. according to respiration and ethylene production behaviors, apple classified as a climacteric fruit. Therefore, any treatments, which can inhibit or prevent the action of ethylene, they can increase the postharvest life of horticultural production. 1-methylcyclopropane (1-MCP) is one of the chemical which is environmental save and use as a very sma...

Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is one of the most important cut flowers in the world. Themajority of thecarnation cultivars are sensitive to ethylene which affected the physiological and biochemical postharvest characteristics of these flowers.Applying inhibitors of biosynthesis and action of ethylene is important factor to protect the display quality and extend postharvest life. In order...

Methyl Jasmonate and 1-Methylcyclopropene Treatment Effects on Quinone Reductase Inducing Activity and Post-Harvest Quality of Broccoli

Effect of pre-harvest methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and post-harvest 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatments on broccoli floret glucosinolate (GS) concentrations and quinone reductase (QR, an in vitro anti-cancer biomarker) inducing activity were evaluated two days prior to harvest, at harvest and at 10, 20, and 30 days of post-harvest storage at 4 °C. MeJA treatments four days prior to harvest of br...
